  • 2.  How do the remote control aerial photography electronics work?
The digital camera is mounted on the pan tilt head and elevated by the mast. A live image is sent down to the monitor in the Ground Remote Control Unit. You can see and compose each image by controlling the pan/tilt (left/right, up/down), and then selecting it with the shutter release button.

    3.  Which cameras can I use with the System?
Most digital cameras with a wired electronic shutter release can be used with our System.

    4.  What is the telescoping mast made of?
The mast is made of aircraft quality aluminum tubing. The tubing is polished and anodized to protect from corrosion and to give it a sleek, professional appearance.

    5.  How does the telescoping mast extend?
The morotized mast  is electro-mechanically extended with a 12V electric motor which can be powered by a rechargeable booster battery or your vehicle’s 12V power supply. No compressor is needed.  The crank-up model is extended by simply turning the handle.  When the handle is released sections self-lock into position automatically.

    6.  Why is it better than the pneumatic mast?
This is a mechanical portable mast that can be raised by a motor or manually with a hand-crank. There are no seals to wear out and leak air (thereby contracting the mast) and an air compressor to raise the mast is not required. Individual tubes do not need to be locked with each extending section as with pneumatic masts.

The LUKSA telescoping mast is not as sensitive to cold and hot weather as the pneumatic mast. It is totally portable and lighter than the pneumatic mast.

    7.  Can I stop the telescoping mast before it reaches full extension?
Yes, the mast can be stopped at any point prior to full extension or contraction by simply releasing the toggle switch. The sections will lock into place automatically.

    8.  What happens if I forget to release the toggle switch or crank handle, will the sections overextend and fall out?
A safety stop ring and limit switch is installed which will shut the motor off when the telescoping mast reaches full extension.

    9.  Do the sections rub against each other, metal to metal,  when the telescoping mast is being extended or contracted?
No, there is not metal to metal contact. The tubing slides on machined plastic rings which ensure a smooth extension and a long life.

    10.  Why are the keyways an important feature?
All mast sections are fully keyed.  The keyways ensure that the sections do not rotate one within each other. This becomes very important for video and when taking precise measurements.  It reduces any extra movement that could be caused by the mast assembly.

    11.  What is a fully self-locking mast?                                                                         The features of a self-locking mast are:                                                                          a) mast sections self-lock automatically during extension and contraction when the up/down buttons or crank handle is released.  You do not have to manually lock each section as it extends.  All LUKSA sections extend simultaneously.     b) the internal  keyways keep the sections locked vertically at all times to prevent any rotation of tube within tube..

    12.  What is the advantage of having "internal" keyways?
Internal keyways are not exposed to dirt and dust.  This makes the mast a very low maintenance unit.

    13.  How do I maintain the telescoping mast?
Simply wipe down the sections with machine oil, or drip a few drops between the tubes monthly or as needed.

    15.  What is the Warranty?
    One-Year International Limited Warranty

    16.  Are there any other models/height available?
Please send us your specifications and we will design a custom telescoping mast or tripod for your application and payload.

    17.  What is the delivery time for a unit?
If there is stock a unit will be shipped once we receive full payment, otherwise delivery times can vary from 3 to 5 weeks.

    18.  How do you ship the mast?
We ship in a custom made wooden crate. Our forwarder provides international door-to-door shipping with complete brokerage service. Shipping time is usually 3-5 days.

IF YOU'RE SERIOUS ABOUT GETTING INTO THIS BUSINESS - THEN GET SERIOUS EQUIPMENT AND DON'T SETTLE FOR LESS!

MAJOR ADVANTAGES OF OUR VISTA MOTORIZED MAST OVER THEIRS:

    -   this is not a heavy resale antenna/lighting or military mast adapted for photography

    -   the VISTA mast works on an electro-mechanical cable and pulley System

    -   no compressor and hand pumps are needed

    -   can be safely and easily stopped at any point prior to full extension or contraction

    - fully self-locking mast, you do not have to manually lock each section as it extends

    - internal keyways keep your payload directional for precise video and measurements

    -   there are no seals to leak and wear out as with pneumatic masts

    -   if the seals or valves on the pneumatic mast leak, the whole mast with the camera can slide down or even crash uncontrollably – damaging your camera equipment

    -   the LUKSA mast is made from wide diameter tubes and needs guylines only in high winds

    -   the pneumatic mast is made from narrow tubes and cannot be used without guylines at any wind speed

    -   masts made from narrow tubes will whip uncontrollably  in the slightest wind like a twig, making your effort to take the image very difficult, frustrating and the images will be crooked and unusable

    -   the LUKSA System takes minimal time to set up, no need to use any time-consuming  tools such as hammers, ropes, stakes, etc.

    -   no time consuming assembly or disassembly of LUKSA equipment on jobsite required - no physical exertion - simply mount the camera with pan/tilt head on top, and depress the UP button to begin extension of the mast.

MAJOR ADVANTAGES OF OUR REMOTE CONTROL ELECTRONICS SYSTEM OVER THEIRS:

    -    we don’t use a sensitive laptop as a remote control unit

    -    no time is wasted while waiting for Windows and other control programs to start-up

    -    the whole LUKSA camera control System is built into a sturdy, indestructible plastic case

    -    you view the camera’s  live video image on the LUKSA Console monitor with Digital SLR cameras– very important  when composing image without wasting time and shots

    -    with the Laptop System you are shooting blind, and have to retake images until you get the one you want

    -    the whole System, mast and  electronics which include the Ground Remote Control, Console, pan/tilt head run on one car or home rechargable battery, or use power from the vehicle

    -    with the Laptop System you need multiple batteries: 4 AA batteries to operate the pan/tilt, plus the battery to operate the Laptop

    -    the LUKSA System uses only one operating cable from the Ground Console to the pan/tilt head

    -    this one cable controls the pan/tilt head, video signal, shutter release signal plus optional photo camera zoom control

    -    it is not possible to control the zoom with the Laptop system , a live image is only possible with a point and shoot digital camera

    -    other Systems use two cables, one to control the pan/tilt, the other is the extended USB cable to control the photo camera from the laptop

    -    the LUKSA System can be adapted for use with any type of digital camera with a wired shutter release control plus any professional SLR camera with any type of lens

    -    the  LUKSA System can be adapted or converted to other photo camera later on, any model, manufacturer, etc.

    -    the LUKSA System can be used with a camcorder providing a live image on the ground monitor and  remotely controlled  with the options  of start, stop, pause, and zoom  (features as per selected camcorder).
